A comfort food like no other, Nomma’s Bengali masoor dal (red lentils) is cooked until soft, swirled with tamarind paste, then tempered with onions that have been fried with spices, chilis, & turmeric. We sweeten it with just a touch of coconut milk and balance it with a squeeze of lime juice. Enjoy on its own as a soup or great for a simple vegetarian dinner served with plain rice, a handful of fresh spinach leaves wilted in or with a spoonful of our Green Chutney, and garnished with fresh cilantro. For extra freshness and spice, top with a sliced fresh green chili. Serves 2 (16 Fl. Oz.)
Nomma's Dal
Water, Masoor dal, onions, coconut milk, Zero Acre cultured oil, tamarind paste, ginger, garlic, turmeric, cumin, coriander, chili powder, salt, lime juice. CONTAINS ALLERGENS: tree nuts (coconut).
Defrost in refrigerator overnight. Reheat gently and simmer for 5 minutes. Add a few tablespoons of water if a thinner consistency is desired.
